WHO WE ARE

Herriman HS Rugby was founded in 2010 for play beginning 2011 by Jeff Wilson at the opening of Herriman HS, along with coaches Derek Smith, Mike Smith, Don Fountaine, Zach Thorum, Tyler Byrge, James Bernard, Alex Vincent, and Preston Case. The program was encouraged and supported by head football coach Larry Wilson and supported by Principal Jim Birch and Vice Principal Lynn Allred.

Over the past 10 years, Herriman has set a standard for excellence unmatched by any program in Utah, and matched by only a select few nationally. We have been able to achieve these great heights because of the hard work and dedication of great young men, great parents and community supporters, and caring coaches.

It is our philosophy to focus on the process rather than the result, and this process includes caring about the young men in our program as people first and players second. We expect our young men to be champions in all that they do - as sons, as students, as members of their community and their faith (regardless of what that faith may be), and in all aspects of their life. Better young men make better rugby players, and we believe that you must first be a champion in all that you do before you can win a championship.

Herriman Rugby players are expected to conduct themselves with a high degree of character and integrity on and off the field. We are truly a family - we laugh together, we celebrate together, we struggle and cry together, and above all we always have each other’s backs, from the most decorated All-American to the last player off the bench - everyone has value and is valued. At the end of the day, the secret to our success is that we love each other!
